The Dock

Every morning on the Northeast coast, a boy named Jack stood at the end of the pier and watched the water.

The Coast Guard cutters came and went.

Canada geese skimmed the harbor. The whole world seemed to be going somewhere.

But it was the seaplane he couldn't stop watching.

Silver wings. Pontoons riding the swell. Number 568.

He was going to fly one.
Someday.

And someday, it would carry him somewhere no one he knew had ever been.

Chapter Two

The Flight Log

LEG 1Depart the Northeast coast. Wind fair. Heart pounding.
LEG 2Down past Cape Hatteras. Nothing but open Atlantic.
LEG 3Florida Straits. Water turning a color I've never seen.
LEG 4Islands on the horizon. Something tells me I'm home.
ARRIVEThe Caribbean Sea.
Chapter Three
Too young. Too far. Too risky. Just a dream. He went anyway.

He overcomes the doubts in his life and reaches for the stars.
